Three layers of protection, built in
A DC array is live whenever the sun is on it, so the protection is built into the equipment itself rather than added around it.
Arc-fault protection
AFCI watches the electrical signature of every DC string and disconnects it the instant an arc appears — so a corroded or loosened connector stays a maintenance job.
Surge protection
Malaysia sees some of the highest lightning density in the world. A Type II or Type III device, depending on the model, on both the DC and AC sides routes that energy safely to earth, keeping it clear of the electronics.
Sealed against water and dust
IP66 means dust-tight and sealed against powerful water jets, so a wall-mounted enclosure keeps working right through monsoon season.
Where inverter noise actually comes from
Two sources: the cooling fan, and electromagnetic hum from the magnetics. The fan is the loud one, and it is the one that can be designed out.
No fan, no fan noise
GoodWe lists the SDT G3 Series as fanless, and rates the DNS G4 Series at 25 dB — heat leaves through the casing by convection rather than forced air.
One less thing to maintain
A fanless casing keeps dust and humid air outside, and takes a wearing bearing out of the design along with the ingress path it needs.
